ABOUT PICKLES & CO.
How Pickles & Co. evolved
Founder Helen began hairdressing at the age of 14 as a Saturday girl and dived straight into the industry as soon as she finished school. With her extreme dedication and talent from day one, she qualified as a hairdresser and moved on to with the likes of Toni & Guy in her early adult life. She started off as a colour technician and went on to train in Manchester and received the highest score of 99% for her 6 week course. Thus becoming the only hairdresser to offer both hairstyling and colouring services at Toni & Guy. Helen embarked on multiple courses both in Manchester and London’s Academy, becoming a strong stylist for shows and shoots of all shapes and sizes.
While working with the Academy in Manchester, she was asked to work as a Toni & Guy tutor for NVQ students and older stylists, bringing all the latest hairdressing techniques from London’s Academy and implementing them in Birmingham. Whilst here, she developed a passion for hair extensions and hair design, which was driven by the idea that you can change how someone feels and looks through hairstyling. She began working from home, and soon became very popular amongst her customers and in the nearby areas. She successfully set up a shop of her own within 6 months of leaving Toni & Guy. This was how Pickles & Co came into being and the salon has gone from strength to strength ever since. Based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, Helen now specialises in professional hairdressing for weddings and events, with a keen eye for men’s hairdressing and hair extensions.
